Sheila is a watercolorist and her paintings reflect the essence of the light, color, texture, and mood that she observes in the ever-changing landscapes of our beautiful country. Painting plein-aire as often as possible, Sheila communicates the fundamental nature of the places she visits. She is also fascinated with the shapes and textures of the structures she enjoys painting. Her work has been exhibited at juried shows in Greene County as well as in selected artists and group shows in New York and New Jersey.
As a board member of the Windham Arts Alliance, she coordinates the gallery events and special event. For many years she co-chaired the annual Sandcastle and Sculpture Workshop and Contest for young people and the annual Art Fest studio tour. Sheila has also initiated many new children’s art programs on the Mountaintop and has helped create several new venues for artists to display their work. She maintains the website and distributes a weekly newsletter sharing current events in the arts.
She was on the Board of Directors of the Greene Council on the Arts (CREATE) for 20 years and a member of the Hudson River Artists Guild in Hunter. She was also selected to become a member of ACWA, Art Center of NJ Watercolor Affiliates.
In addition to her many contributions to the arts in Greene County, she has found time to build and set up stages and booths for the Clearwater Revival at Croton Point Park in Westchester and to help the Greene Room Players of Hunter with their photographic needs.
