Athena Billias
Paintings depict the resiliency of our landscapes, despite the ravages perpetrated by man. In the Hudson River School days, unrelenting industry denuded the mountains and blew up the ledges. Trains rattled through the cloves and the streams were polluted by various money-making endeavors. Nature seems to have come a long way since then, despite man's ongoing efforts to change her. Even the machinations of the ski industry can be beautiful. Nature survives.
