Peter C. Liman
About The Artist
Peter Liman has spent his fondest boyhood and adult years on the Catskill mountaintop.
He loves to capture the quietude and essence of nature which was home to the famed
Hudson River School of Landscape Art in the 19th century.
He is an accomplished and highly recognized landscape and figurative artist whose
contemporary realism style of impressionistic oil painting is textural, bold in color and full of energy.
Peter’s work is exhibited in numerous Catskill Mountain galleries and in his Windham Big Hollow Art Studio, as well as in many other NY & NJ art galleries and colleges. He is known also for his “Art Of Healing” exhibitions in hospitals. His favorite artists are Van Gogh, Monet, Leroy Neiman and artists of the Hudson River School famous for capturing nature’s beauty. Harvard magazine cited him as “The Monet of the Mountain Top.” His art has been written up in Fine Art Connoisseur magazine - Who’s Who of Oil Painters of America, many newspapers and Artist Advocate. Peter’s art is treasured by many private collectors.
Artist Statement
“My work isn’t about perfection, but rather, capturing a feeling about my subject and manipulating what I see in reality to fit an image I have and how I feel about it. Generally, it’s soaking up the spirit of the scene I’m privileged to behold and rendering my impression of the special moment in tune. The joy is in the seeing and the joy is being that much closer to nature which God has created to be the ultimate in perfection.”
