Annie Borgenicht’s Artist Statement
Twenty-two years ago, I had a severe back injury. As a method of healing, I was introduced to a process called intuitive painting, encouraged to paint from the inside out. Unable to sit or stand, I reclined on the floor and began painting away - a meditative experience for me where my body often relaxes and pain goes away. Thus, ten years ago, I started to become a painter.
Growing up in the Catskills, these mountains have always been a part of me. Now that I have the privilege of living half a year in these magical mountains, I am drawn to paint the spirit and the beauty that surrounds us. Continuing to explore and look for my artistic voice, my artistic desire is that my paintings express my love of this place and show the joy and peace being in nature can bring us and thus bring pleasure into this world.
